Description: An augmented reality app that overlays graphics onto what your camera shows. If you are using the app in the Arts + Industries Building, you will see a floral natural environment overlaid onto the FUTURES exhibition around you. The graphic overlay cycles through four seasons of imagery. These graphics include: dogwood trees in bloom with white flowers and bees, milkweed and monarch butterflies, and purple echinacea flowers and bees.
A Whole New World
“What would a ‘future that inspires’ actually look like?” We asked new media artists Tamiko Thiel and /p. In response, they have staged a “re-wilding” of the Arts + Industries Building through an augmented reality overlay. Their vision is one of sustainable relationships between humankind, city, and nature: a “futurescape” of epic scale and unbridled vibrancy.
From Star Trek to Blade Runner, the future has often been imagined in captivating ways. That landscape is shifting in real time. As augmented reality becomes increasingly attainable through open-source platforms and social media, the interplay between reality and fiction is expanding how we see our world.

The app uses your device’s camera to show the augmented reality world created by the artist. If you choose to take photographs, they will be captured locally on your device and stored locally. They will not be collected or accessed by the artist.
